ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys

Do you need an "ALTA" survey?  The team at GeoSurvey specializes in the preparation of ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys for many of our clients.

ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys are very detailed surveys prepared to a set of standards known as the "Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys".  These requirements have been prepared through a joint effort between The National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), The Amercan Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), and The American Land Title Association (ALTA).  The standards were first promulgated in 1962, and have been revised multiple times since.  The latest revision occurred in 2005, and is now in effect for all new ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys.

ALTA surveys are usually required by lenders and title insurance companies for commercial and larger residential land transactions.   During the preparation of ALTA surveys, the surveyor, closing attorney, and title insurance company deal very closely with each other, communicating very specific information related to title policy matters and other site related details.  There are many "options" that can be added to the basic ALTA survey.   These options are clearly identified on "Table A" of the requirements, and should always be considered by all interested parties when ordering an ALTA survey.
